Cole Park Pavilion

Award-Winning

Preservation Dallas • Preservation Achievement Award • 2011

Project Description

Cole Park is one of Dallas’ earliest parks. The pavilion, constructed in 1925, was one of the city’s first and also one of the earliest structures in Dallas constructed in the Spanish-Revival style. The restrooms, which had previously been shuttered closed due to vandalism, were removed in order to provide more visibility into the pavilion from the street and site. The pavilion restoration included structural repairs to the existing clay tiles walls, repairs to the floor slab, a new clay tile roof, repairs to the wood ceiling, re-plastered walls, new stone terrace, and new lighting. Work also included site improvements, including a new walking trail, landscaping, a central seating area, site lighting, ADA improvements, and renovation of the existing tennis courts.
