The Caterpillar Engine Plant produces the majority of all small CAT engines used in the power generation equipment, petroleum and marine industries. The primary building is 850,000 s.f. and includes the main assembly area (400K s.f.) and support areas including parts supply storage (approximately 300,000 s.f.), engine testing, and office.
Flow of raw materials, engine production, and final distribution of finished product are all critical elements of the design of the facility. The Engine Plant is connected via an enclosed connector which transfers the product to the Paint Center and Storage building (700,000 s.f.). After painting the engines are stored for eventual distribution throughout North America and the World.
