The City of Dallas held a grand opening for Fire Station 46 in Oak Cliff this morning. The ceremony included an “uncoupling of the hose”, which is a tradition that symbolizes the building is officially open for public service.
The 11,500 s.f. fire station includes 3 full apparatus bays. The facility will house a multiple company station, designed for fifteen (15) firefighters during each 24-hour shift. It also includes ICC-500 tornado storm shelter, and it will house a wildlife rescue team.
Fire Station No. 46 is designed to achieve LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
