Negotiators spent about a year hammering out a deal for Caterpillar Inc. to locate the 275,000 s.f. engine head manufacturing plant currently under construction on a 54-acre tract in Schertz.
Because the operation will supply the Caterpillar assembly plant located 18 miles away in Seguin, the Schertz deal gives momentum to the city, whose boundaries reach into three counties, and to an ongoing regional approach to economic development.
